  98. This package contains ADMAN! Version 1.10 by TAN$TAAFL(TM) Software
  99. Company. This document contains only a brief description of the package
  100. and its features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite
  101. detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  102. form, and is more easily read after installation.

  105. ADMAN! is a shareware program. This evaluation version is a full featured
  106. program, and is not crippled in any way. It is restricted in the playing
  107. of your Ads until you obtain a registered version which will put your
  108. name into the Copyright Notice. This is to protect your intellectual
  109. property rights. It also prevents anyone else from modifying or tampering
  110. with the Ads you create and vice versa. You may use it for up to 30 days,
  111. without charge (see ADMAN.DOC for more details). If you like the program,
  112. and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you are
  113. required to pay for the program (see ORDER.DOC for more details). Any fee
  114. you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this
  115. program was a fee for their copying and distribution services, rather
  116. than a payment for continued use of the program.

  118. When you register your name, or your company's name, will be embedded
  119. into your registered version of the ADMAN Editor. This will brand every
  120. Ad you create with your name in the Copyright Notice. This will also
  121. ensure that only you, with your registered version of ADMAN Editor, will
  122. be able to edit the Ads you create. No other registered version will be
  123. able to edit your Ads. This also prevents you from editing ads created by
  124. others. This is done to ensure that intellectual property rights are
  125. enforced. If you were to release an Ad and someone else changed it it
  126. could cause great damage to your company and reputation. Every precaution
  127. has been taken to ensure this cannot happen.

  157. ===== Installation =====================================
  158.  
  159. If you are installing ADMAN! from the ASP CD-ROM Disk use the
  160. installation procedure supplied on the CD-ROM Disk. If you have obtained
  161. ADMAN! from a vendor that made their disks from the ASP CD-ROM Disk use
  162. the installation procedure supplied on your disk. All others use the
  163. following installation program supplied by TAN$TAAFL Software Company.
  164.  
  165. The installation procedure for ADMAN! is very simple. You will need at
  166. least 1,040K of free disk space to store the programs, Ads, and
  167. documentation files.
  168.  
  169. Use the INSTALL.BAT file to install the files on any disk drive. The
  170. INSTALL.BAT command line format is:
  171.  
  172.                  INSTALL [source:] [destination:].
  173.  
  174. At the DOS prompt type INSTALL A: C: followed by a carriage return if you
  175. are installing the files from the A: drive to the C: drive. A directory
  176. called "ADMAN" will be created on the destination drive and then the
  177. files will be copied into it.
  178.  
  179.  
  180. ----- SPECIAL NOTE ON ADMAN.EXE AND VGA ADAPTERS ------------------
  181.  
  182. ADMAN.EXE completely takes over, at the register level, a VGA adapter and
  183. reprograms it for its own use. This is why a 100% register compatable VGA
  184. adapter is required. If you have a VGA adapter that is not 100% register
  185. compatable with the VGA standard damage could result to your adapter
  186. and/or monitor. Since the VGA standard has been in effect for a long time
  187. I doubt if there are any VGA adapters that are not 100% register
  188. compatable with it. This caution is inserted just in case one does exist.

  190. Beginning with DOS 5.0 you have been able to load TSR's and Device
  191. Drivers into high memory above the 640 Kb level. A lot of people who only
  192. use their computers in text mode may use the memory from 0A0000 Hex to
  193. 0B8000 Hex assigned to the VGA adpater for use in graphics mode to load
  194. TSR's and/or Device Drivers into this region of memory. If this is the
  195. case with your computer you cannot run ADMAN.EXE because it uses all of
  196. the memory from 0A0000 Hex to 0BFFFF Hex assigned to the VGA adapter. Any
  197. TSR or Device Driver loaded into this region of memory will be
  198. overwritten and wiped out and it will probably cause your computer to
  199. freeze and you will have to reboot. Before running ADMAN.EXE you will
  200. have to load these TSR's and Device Drivers into a different section of
  201. memory and then it will be safe to run ADMAN.EXE.

  240. software for evaluation purposes for a period not to exceed thirty days.
